This is pure speculation, grounded in no way by facts or informed opinions.
The next movie could take up the Vulcan's plight. Some Vulcans might decide it is logical (or preferable) to reject Surak's teachings and turn to violence. It would manifest itself in a much different way than Romulans. Imagine a disciplined, logical approach to violence. How would that effect the Federation? I'd like to see the next movie focus on this. |

I think that the Romulan way is this very "disciplined and logical approach to violence". There is definitely potential for Vulcan-Romulan stories and the idea that some of the remaining Vulcans join Romulus or embark on different new path is quite interesting.
But such stories fit TV Trek where the fan quota of the audience is significantly larger than in cinema Trek much better. Or in other words, it's too fanboyish for a movie. |

I could see the Romulans even with all the animosity that exists between Vulcans and Romulans in the distant past, reaching out to their gentic "brothers."

We've had Romulan stories in the last two outings, I'd prefer something different next time

Meh, for the last two films we have seen rogue Romulans with seperate agendas than the Empire. This makes me sad because I think it will prevent the great movie that focuses on the actual Empire in all their war strategy glory- that has never been (and probably will never be) made.
