In the cave, he meets the young Kirk. In the original timeline, Spock must surly have known that a Kirk that young would not be Capt.

ALso, when Nero captured Spock Prime, why did Spock fall to his knees? Very un Vulcan like.

I'd wondered about your first point too. Maybe he's just so used to thinking of Kirk as the Captain that he forgot about the age difference for a second and simply assumed that the Kirk in front of him was Captain too? As for the second, it look like he felt mentally/emotionally defeated or something maybe. Sort of a momentary, "I give up."

...and why did young Spock bend down on the transporter pad when he went to rescue his parents? Was he afraid the sky was going fall on his head?

Remember this is directed by the same guy who made a TV show about a magical tropical island of miracles, where polar bears live and disappear and lottery numbers are cursed.

I thought maybe he was afraid of flying debris, tbh. That and the pose looked kind of hot, so I won't complain.

Second, he's old, he just travelled through a spatial distortion and saw his home destroyed - maybe he got a little confused. He did say he was 'emotionally compromised'.

I tend to think Spock would automatically say Captain out of habit.

Better than to ask why Spock knelled down is to ask why didn't they beam him to the mouth of the cave in the first place. It would have shaved off the 20 or 30 seconds needed to keep mom from falling to her death.
Ahh yes it's a movie.
