I can't believe they let Admiral Forest die, I really liked him.

They even killed Mirror-Forest, but at least he died both times as a hero.

I'm glad they killed him off. Not because of any ill will towards the character, I thought he was a good character, but because it's good for a TV show to kill a character every now and then. That way it's not a given that they are going to solve their problems all tidy like in an hour. Star Trek could have used more of it in my opinion.

That seems to have changed with ST09 and it's "space is disease and danger" theme.
Concerning Forest's death, it had an important impact upon Soval, not unlike Preston's death which influenced Kirk. |
