You can consider the move from cell animation to 3D like B&W to color. However, Betty Boop is still great after all these years. But if she were redone in 3D it just wouldnt work. Wall-E wouldnt work as cell animation either.

Toy Story was definitely one of the funniest. So many funny character moments. I love Nemo too. UP was great, but so many deeper, sadder moments in it gave it a different vibe. I found Wall-E to be terrifying in its vision of where humanity is heading, I don't even think that's a movie kids should see, even though it was beautifully executed. The end credits had me weeping so hard it kind of wiped out all the previous humor.
As for the shorts, I just loved "Boundin'" - the narrator and the message are priceless. The script is almost Seuss-ian. "Pink? Pink? Well, what's wrong with pink? I think that you've got a pink kink in your think."

PIXAR has certainly come down after the incredibles...
I don't think it'll ever be the same.

Perhaps they simply tuned a little more towards an adult audience in ways. I'm not sure if thats good or bad. Since Incredibles: Cars was good but a bit heavy on the cameos and such. Also, stuff like the cow-tipping... eh ok. A movie about a chef rat... not exactly enticing for kids but I loved all the French characters. Wall-E definitely not. Havent seen Up yet. The next two are sequels. The third is going to have some obvious environmental tones about extinction and such.

Oh! Where to start!
Well, if we're going funniest! Monster's Inc, the Incredibles and the Toy Stories were all fantastic! And Boundin' (in front of the Incredibles) and Mike's New Car (Mons.Inc. related) were brilliant! Moreso Boundin', which is definitely one of my favourite things for on screen.

I didn't like Wall-E. I like Ratatoulle (SP?) OK not great but was good. Not sure abotu up will definatly watch it. Kinda miss the cell animated cartoons glad to see Disney a classic animated movie in Princess and the Frog.
Back on topic I loved Incredibles, Cars, Monsters Inc, and Toy Story all classics!

This was back in the 90's, but Disney World had a great 3D experience called
"Honey I Shrunk the Audience" After you would put on your "safety goggles" the Experiment began, and of course it went wrong. It was great fun, and now that I look back on it, it was IMAX 3D that we were watching. |
