The green skin is a bit of a turn off for me personally. But i guess i wouldn't mind coming home to that.

Had the Enterprise gone to warp with the rest of the fleet, would Nero have held fire SOONER if he saw the name on the hull plating? Wouldn't his focus have shifted to Spock sooner, thus either allowing the other ships to escape, or negotiating a temporary cease fire so that the remaining ships could co-ordinate a counter attack?

Hmmm. That depends on how long it took him to wipe em out and whether or not they would have been too busy causing a big mess in space to check. One question is whether or not he checked all those ships at all before destroying them. If so, he probably would have picking them off one by one and not stop until he found Enterprise. And once he did, he probably would have destroyed the others anyways.

and, under normal circumstances, I'd agree about the green skin thing. I don't even like redheads, as a rule. but, man, the things I'd do on an away mission w/ her!

You could look at it from the other point of view that if the Enterprise had gone to warp with the other ships maybe they wouldnt have been decimated. As the 1701 was the most modern and powerful ship in the fleet not going to warp at the same time probably costed more lives than it saved.

Still was a good scene with Sulu and nice effect when the dropped out of warp into Hell!

Basically the whole crew was "Green" all the ships were cadets. (Which is a bit of a stretch to me anyway) Maybe he forgot because with it being a new ship the controls were layed out different.

I thought that was quite interesting -

a 'comic' moment actually had quite a dramatic impact moments later when you realise if he hadn't done that they could have been killed.
