Yeah...I would say it's obvious that the Enterprise lucked into surviving. It's one of the happy little conveniences that make critics of the movie roll their eyes.

I think even if the Enterprise did warp with the rest of the fleet, Nero would've held fire once he say the name on the hull plating. And his focus would've shifted to Spock sooner. It could've saved lives maybe.

You know, I am a pretty big critic about this movie, but I didn't find anything wrong with the Enterprise showing up a little later, thus surviving the onslaught. What bugged me was the fact such a "green" helmsman was at the controls of the flagship, NOT the same Sulu we knew could fly just about anything. Sure, they made sure to throw in a scene making it clear he could pull off maneuvers that were difficult, but that didn't take the bad taste out of my mouth from the parking brake thing.

All in all... I'm used to the Enterprise showing up a little lat and saving the day!!
