I don't think the new Trek was quite the next Batman Begins, although using that analogy I'd like the next one to by the next Dark Knight... more thoughtful and complex, but also slower. And perhaps (a little) darker (than Trek 2009). Since it will be the second act of a planned trilogy and all.

Possibly, but as she was on a ship that went to Vulcan and got dusted - she probably got dusted with it.

In the film, her body should have slammed against the viewscreen of the Enterprise so we could see Uhura's reaction!! Maybe have gotten pinned there like a bug on a windshield!!

Because in the hanger sequence ALL the cadets were being assigned to ships responding to the Vulcan emergency. I believe she was assigned to either the USS Farragut or USS Hood - either way her reaction appeared to be she was excited to go to whichever ship she was assigned to.

And all the other ships were destroyed.

Therefore - she's either destroyed or (possibly) floating in a pod somewhere. I go with dead. Since the Enterprise didn't pick up any Starfleet survivors.

but they weren't all assigned to doomed ships, now were they? wasn't there a station or two in the list?

and she MIGHT have been on the Big E.

that's just it, though: they DON'T mention her posting.

we're left to assume based off of a smile that could'a said: "hey roomie, we got the same ship"

or "I got the shinyest assignment in the fleet!"

or "I got posted on a station in orbit over the prime vacation spot in the quadrant!"

or even "look at all the people I could be 'bunking with' on my new assignment!"

we just don't know.
