The Elders were in the katric shrine, but did they take some katras with them? In the novel they carry the katric ark (containing Surak's katra) out of the cave and rescue it.

I would assume they took what they could, so at least some survived. Don't know why, but I was allways under the impression that Surak's Katra was lost by the 23rd century...

Well, katric ark was obviously a reference to ENT and it is a nice idea to kinda continue the plot of the Forge/Awakening/Kir'Shara. But you are right, NCC, if there is an entire shrine there should be some other katric arks in there besides Surak's.

If I understood you correctly, Z, you referred to "Savage Curtain" and Spock's reaction when he saw Surak.
I don't think that this causes any problems, ordinary Vulcans like Spock are probably not allowed to meld with Surak's katra, only some high-ranking monks, so Spock's reaction to seeing Surak and the existance of his katra work fine together. ![]() |

In a Q&A with TrekMovie, Orci does indicate that they may have been able to save Surak's katra before escaping from the ark.
