Size of starfleet???
I was wondering just how big is the federation fleet???

In this movie, it wasn't established, but it did seem like a big portion of it was wiped out over Vulcan. Some of it was left or there wouldn't have been a debate on whether or not to rendevous with the fleet.

Thats what i was wondering as the admiral at starfleet academy said that the primary fleet was engaged in the laurentian system??? and Pike lead a fleet of what 4 or 5 ships??? so whats the rest of the fleet doing?? patrolling the neutral zones between the federation and romulan/klingon empires and 5yr missions?

They'll likely never give an official size. Then they're limited to a certain number of ships, which would put a crimp in creative writing...

It just got me thinking about the fleet after nero destroyed or crippled 43 klingon ships....
