Yep, "could have been epic" indeed. I enjoyed it, but I left the theater feeling it was way too short. I guess they were afraid to confuse the noobs.

I would have loved for it to have started with Spock Prime in the 24th century, include elements from Countdown, Klingons, etc. Ah well...

Oh yeah. The movie could have and would have been longer if only they'd known what a success it would be. I had every faith (only shaken by the first photos of the pipe/duct/conduit room), but nobody asked me.

I garee, but the current movie trend and legth seems to be 90 mins. Trek clocked in at over 2 hours! Right there it broke rules!
