in the prime timeline, those same Bullies are the victim redshirts you see in each episode that get killed off, of course instead of having them get killed off all at once, Kirk takes one of them bullies each time he goes with a landing party to another planet. Three years ago, a bunch of cadets picked a fight with someone who - in their eyes - was an obnoxious hick that was pestering their friend. Lousy behaviour on everyone's part, really. The cadets involved no doubt got a grilling, and probably a disciplinary record, from Pike.

They've all since graduated, and Kirk's become the CO of Ensign Cuppycake and possibly others from that group.

Revenge? It'd be more like imbecility, I think, for him to pursue some juvenile effort to 'get even' for an incident he helped to instigate, that happened so far in the past.

It'd be like Picard waging war on the Nausicaans because he once punched a Nausicaan in the face and got knifed in the back for his troubles. It'd prove nothing except the extent of his insecurity, immaturity and lack of self control.

True. But he would be much more suspicious of them than he otherwise would be. Thats to be expected due to any kind of strong personal event between two or more people. The same situation would arise if it was sex between friends. There would be an uncomfortable tenseness from then on. At least it would be for me but I havent been there.

This is one thing that absolutely infuriates me: It seems like the cadets who were busy trying to fracture Kirk's skull just got a slap on the wrist. All Pike said was, "All of you, outside." REALLY?! THAT'S IT?! Just "go outside?!"

I wouldn't feel so outraged if they'd just put one line in there like, "All of you, outside. We will talk about this later. *very stern look*"

Even if someone is pestering your friend, ganging up on them and trying to freakin' beat them to death is simply inexcusable and utterly pathetic. Four against one is not a fair fight and if you fail so hard that you'll only attack when in a group, well...

I, for one, would be holding a grudge for a long, loooong time. Then again, Kirk probably got into lots of fights, so he's probably not the type to hold a grudge. He seems like he'd just be like, "Meh. Whatever," and basically forget about it as just another average evening out on the town.

I'm still holding a grudge against a summer camp counselor that I had when I was 9 years old. I still despise her 16 years later. God, she was an absolute witch. I wonder if she's even still alive, actually? She was in her sixties then...
