Question Will Capt. Kirk get even with those bullies?

Since Kirk is now Captain, do you think he should get even with those bullies who beat him up in the Iowa bar? Especially with the one who called Kirk a "cupcake". From what is shown in the film, those bullies are still crewmembers of the Enterprise.

Eh, he's a starship captain. By the end of the film, he seemed to have the maturity to not let personal things like that dictate how he treats his crewmembers.

Yep. All he needs to do is send them on away missions alongside main characters.

What do you mean? Kirk still seemed to be the same as he always was.

Well I mean... so they beat him up once while they were all kids. Now they're all older and wiser. Cupcake is now just doing his job. And so is Kirk. And part of Kirk's job is to not let his personal animosity towards any crewmember dictate his actions. So he's not going to boot Cupcake off the Enterprise, or punish him in any way, just because he punched him three years ago. It would be grossly unprofessional, and not like Kirk. Well, not like the Kirk I have in my head anyway. It would be petulant and childish.

Cupcake was out of line, IMO, (although it was amusing) when he decided to add his snide "Cupcake" comment when he escorted Kirk to the bridge. Apparently he didn't gain much maturity. I still like Cupcake, though, simply because it really would be funny to have him as a running gag in every movie.

I can see Kirk getting him back in a covert fashion should the opportunity present itself but not going out of his way to do so. Kirk is still a lovable, cheeky bastard from what I can tell. Calmed down quite a bit but I think he's maintained that slightly wicked streak. He's far more wild than Kirk Prime, even with the added maturity, and I can believe that he'd be prone to a few pranks or immature moments. Heck I am at 25 and I make no apologies for any brief moments, or not so brief moments, of immaturity that might crop up here and there. Doesn't make me any less responsible or capable, IMO. It just makes me 25.

I rather hope he stays this way. I mean, that was one helluva cocky entrance onto the bridge at the end and I LOVED it!

I totally agree with you. Whoever uses physical force, regardless it be a police officer trying to take down a criminal or a U.S. soldier shooting at the foreign enemy, are completely childlike and immature. Great insight.

My point was that holding a grudge for three years over one fight, and then horribly abusing your position of power because of that grudge, would be utterly pathetic. If Kirk did that, all my respect for him that had been woven together through the film would be undone in my eyes. Of course I hate fights as much as the next guy, and avoid them as best I can, but I'm not going to snipe at someone who whacked me if I got the chance years down the line. Time heals.

Er, sometimes cops have to use physical force. I mean, you've seen the show COPS, right? Now if they're abusing their power, that just makes them ***holes and I totally agree with you. However, appropriate use of force is understandable.

ETA: Oh, wait. Were you being sarcastic? Darn. My sarcasm meter is broken.
