Oh, and by the way, I wasn't trying to make fun of Zardoz earlier, I was just pointing out the irony in him saying that. :P

I think it makes sense that the film's producers would place artoo in a place/scene/time congruent with his actual function. Making him a piece of floating debris is not 'paying homage' to him - it would be insulting. Since ILM did the effects, that seems the most unlikely. I am standing by my claim that I clearly saw him repairing a shuttle in the "Spocks" scene at the end of the film. It fits with his function and it is not blatant or kitchy. My eyes locked onto him and made out his entire form for at least an entire second.

This is all news to me...I didn't know they were gonna put artoo in as a 'find waldo'....oh, well, now I have a really good reason to ask my Dad or my boyfriend to buy me the disk when it comes out...as a birthday present...
