OK, I think Rand should return. Kirk loved her, and could never show it, (although he "loved" all the guest stars, lol). Chapel MUST be involved. I'd like to see O'riley. But maybe a lot of these familiar characters died when they all were assigned to ships that went to Vulcan after the distress call? All those ships were destroyed, although they could have escaped in pods our shuttles.

First Officer Sam Tyler: "This ship is the worst run vessel in the quadrant. The walls are stained with nicotine and the turbolift smells of vomit!! "

Captain Gene Hunt: "Shut up, Dorothy!! Your supposed to be my Number One but your acting like a number two!!"

I wouldn't mind seeing Rand or Chapel as long as they don't make them as weak and pathetic as their counterparts in TOS often were. Those two characters bore the mark of 1960s representation of women and would definitely need a bit of updating, but at the same time they should not change their personalities completely... It would be tricky to get the characterizations right. (Chapel was on Enterprise in the movie, BTW.)

I would like to see Dr Carol Marcus (the writers even thought about having her briefly in this movie), T'Pring (she could have survived), maybe T'Pau could be among Vulcan elders...

As for the antagonistis, maybe some of the familiar Klingons could come back... But please no Khan - that story has been milked for its worth.

Rand, Rand, and more Rand. I've just decided that Sarah Michelle Gellar needs to don a red mini and start shooting coffee... and Klingons.

Decker and Ilia would be cool, although Decker is only 2 years older than Chekov.
agreed, Rand.

and Gaila.

and Gary Mitchell.

and Saavik ( hey, Kirstie Alley used to be hot, way back when).

and Marla McGivers.
