OK, I think Rand should return. Kirk loved her, and could never show it, (although he "loved" all the guest stars, lol). Chapel MUST be involved. I'd like to see O'riley. I wouldn't mind seeing Rand or Chapel as long as they don't make them as weak and pathetic as their counterparts in TOS often were. Those two characters bore the mark of 1960s representation of women and would definitely need a bit of updating, but at the same time they should not change their personalities completely... It would be tricky to get the characterizations right. (Chapel was on Enterprise in the movie, BTW.)

I would like to see Dr Carol Marcus (the writers even thought about having her briefly in this movie), T'Pring (she could have survived), maybe T'Pau could be among Vulcan elders...

As for the antagonistis, maybe some of the familiar Klingons could come back... But please no Khan - that story has been milked for its worth.
