Southern-
Did you forget they had ridges the first time in ST:TMP? Still cannot see why you can't have both, we've seen both, it would be kind of cool to.

Regardless of explanations Enterprise started out in the very first episode showing Klingons with ridges. Since that predates Star Trek XI they would have to be shown with ridges wouldn't they?

The only reason they didn't have ridges in TOS was because of the expense, if memory calls. That was corrected for ST:TMP to make them more "alien-looking" and Gene had the say so.
Ridges. |

If Abrams is truly going to respect canon, then the Klingons should not have ridges.
Zefram - Yes, they had ridges at the beginning of the series, but in Season 4 we finally learned how they lost them... Has it been said we will actually see Klingons in person, or are we actually just seeing Klingon ships during Kirk's Kobayashi Maru test? If it's just ships, what they look like would be a non-issue.

Doesn't mean all the Kilingons wanted or were allowed access to it (the vaccine.)

I think the purpose of that episode was to explain why Klingons had and have ridges (and explain away TOS Klingons). All Klingons in all of Star Trek, except TOS, have ridges. Seems like the writers have been sticking with ridges and probably will continue (you never know though).

I prefer the revisionist approach: that if that period of Star Trek were made in 2008, then the Klingons would have looked like they do in TOS onwards. The Enterprise explanation was fun, but really a bit 'fanwanky!'
I take the approach that the stories and concepts are what matters. It's the same as if I go to an opera: the New York Met version would have one look and the Bayreuth one a different look, even though the music and story are essentially the same! So, I'd like to see the ridged foreheads on the movie Klingons, although, given the Romulans never had those dorky foreheads in TOS or the TOS films, I'd rather they had the same look as the Vulcans! |

IF.....Klingons appear do in the film I would prefer an appearance very similar to TOS with just a bit more defined accentuation but NOT ridges; sort of a Klingon on steroids.
Why not ridges? Because..........wait for it..........only RUFFLES have ridges!!! |
