I'd like to see both as well. I think it would show the Klingons as a more complex culture. I liked the way they showed them in Star Trek VI. They seemed almost like a mix of the two kinds, they all had ridges but were of different prominence. I just hope they don't all have ridges and look as they do in TNG, the Klingons of TOS were not only physically different but acted different as well and I think in Trek VI they showed elements of what the Klingons were in TOS without just lifting that conception of the race out of the series and putting it into the movie.

I concur.
It would establish some sort of harmony.
I wish they would have done something like that in Voyager..

No more than dark skinned humans and light skinned humans are confusing...it might take 2 lines of dialogue to explain it, but if the movie is over 20 minutes long, there should be time.

How about three kinds:

- Ridgy a la everything 1979-onwards
- Smooth a la TOS and late ENT
- Chang very-subtle-ridges (hybrid of the above?)

And wait, we don't even know if Klingons are gonna be IN this!

I thought the ENT explanation was fantastic -- couple of rogue eugenics augments unfrozen by Soong slaughter an entire shipful of Klingons, after which the Klingons understandably decide they could use their own augments, using Khan-type DNA as a base, disaster results. Humans pop in and save them from having to exterminate half their species, it's all hushed up so Klingons are left with grudge but no real motivation to exterminate everyone on Earth. And a lot of 'em are stuck with smooth foreheads. I thought it was pretty neatly done, and an entertaining story to boot.

See i always thought Change was a augment after the ENT episodes
Shoot I thought he was as soon as I saw him.
It was a bright spot in the dark writing of ENT series.

Aren't there many shades of human skin color? Are there not many ranges of human eyefolds? Are there not a bazillion human ear shapes? Why do we expect aliens to be uniform in appearance when we are not?

Probably because of Trek and it's low budget...

I think Glacial is onto something!!!

I would imagine there are many kinds of Kilingons, and we've only seen the tip of the iceberg.

Don't tell me they didn't ravage/rape "subject races" they conqured. So you can have soem interesting mixes going on over the ages of the Empire.
