That whale film always goes over well with the newcomers!

Now that they're here hopefully they'll find some intriguing, compelling, thought-provoking, mind-blowing adventures coming down the *ahem* pike in this new universe.

Just remember to "Chekov" the films you show them so they don't get repeats.

I'm actually not seeing that much new trek fan forum members. On this forum it still seems like it's mostly people who have always been trek fans or have been trek fans for quite a while now.

In real life though, I'm seeing a lot more new fans being brought in.

Here has been getting a little depressing for me lately, so I took some initiative and tried to make a positive contribution for once, it beats the hell out of going into other people's threads and losing my temper. I'm sure all of you are sick of that by now.

I do think that with all our arguing, debating, disparaging, and downright throat cuttery sometimes, new fans would probably be skeered off.

I love being able to quote Trek now without being looked on by friends as a complete nutter. They even quote along with me. They all loved it. And i've taken about 15 of them now who have never seen any kind of Trek in their lives.

It's fun seeing formerly borderline or non-fans embrace this movie. My daughter only agreed to go to opening night because Chris Pine is hot...she's seen it 3 more times since.
