Thumbs up I love not having Star Trek to myself anymore.

Figured I'd start a positive thread since there seems to have been an upsurge in negativity lately.

Who else is enjoying the company of new fans?

I know I am.

My sis and her friends we're planning to see Angels and Demons, so before they left the house to go see it I suggested they watch Star Trek the next time they go to the movies after their A&D viewing.

Wouldn't you know it, Angels and Demons was sold out(the bad), so they all ended up going to see Star Trek instead(the good). And they all enjoyed it. (the awesome)

Actually with me, it hasn't even been so much new fans, as much as bringing back old fans that had given up on the franchise.

I enjoy the time spent here but sometimes folks that over analyze everything just drive me nuts. Regardless still a bunch of good eggs here.

Me too!

My friend & I went to see the movie.
He was not a Star Trek at all.
Now he has seen the movie twice & loves it.
He can't wait to see if any more movies are made .

Yes, indeed. I love all the kids who are getting into it.

It thrilled me to no end to see folks at the theater that you would otherwise probably NOT see at a typical Trek movie.

Now, there is a new generation of fans that we hopefully can cultivate into Trekkies to carry on into the next generation. But we must do so carefully. We can't inundate them with Trek.

Casual conversation. If, through casual or passing conversation they seem to express a bit more interest in Trek, perhaps invite some of your non-Trek fans over to your house for a couple of episodes. (Find out what they liked best about the new movie, and see if you have episodes that fit the bill.)

I know my roomie and his girlfriend are MUCH more interested in Trek than they were before. My roomie's gf is definitely interested in the old Trek....and thankfully I have all three seasons, plus the animated series to draw from.

Definitely GREAT to see so many of people around me, old and the young that never gave light of day to Star Trek, enjoyed so thoroughly and now start good discussions on the characters and ask questions about the original series.
