As much as I liked Bill Shatner, I do not want to see him in any movies....I think it worked better with Leonard Nimoy. To bring Der Shat into the picture would just seem like stunt casting.

No, Shat's days of playing Kirk are long over, I'm afraid. If he had a cameo as a different character, that would be cool.

It could be done, but would come across as total fanwank.

Only realistic way other than more time travel is through the nexus connection. old.kirk is brought out of the nexus by old.spock (who is the only one who knows he's still there; sortof - that whole echo thing). old.kirk is the only one to have defeated Khan in the past so it makes sense, sortof.

Now me, I'd use old.spock and old.kirk a bit sparingly but most certainly kill both of them off. I'd take the riff from Khan "To the last breath I grapple with thee" and show just that... literally; old.spock & old.kirk go boom with Khan thereby saving the day.

Last scene would be with old.spock and old.kirk mirroring their very first scene together in Where No Man Has Gone Before; they're playing chess, in the nexus - which is Star Trekkin' across the universe.

Spock: "It's life Jim, but not as we know it".
Kirk: "I don't like to lose".
Spock: "Checkmate in four moves".
Kirk: "Hrrrmph. Let's go kill Khan again somewhere. It was... fun".

He could be Ensign Fanwanky, since we didn't get that character in the first film, dangit!

The Shat was the guy who made STAR TREK what it is.

however, I don't think any actors from previous TREKs should ever feature in future movies. Pine and company have made the characters their own now, and coin a phrase "the Starship Enterprise and her history have become the care of a new generation. To them and their posterity will we commit our future. They will continue the voyages .... "

Admiral Crane?
Admiral Hooker?

Its probably time to boldly go forward now - the new guys on their own.

That hurts me to say it as im a big Shat fan. The opportunity has come and gone now in my opinion...he should have appeared as a holographic image with leonard Nimoy in this current film. the part was written but JJ didnt like it therefore the shat wasnt offered anything. great opportunity missed sadly.

there you go, its done now and cant be undone. Long live the shat but i fear its all over as far as him playing capt kirk. cant see him appearing in any new trek film...but as spock said... ' there arfe always possibilities'. ill live in hope but will probably die in vain.
