I thought Chris did a great job. The KM/Apple scene is when he really felt like the Kirk I know. Kirk is cocky and confident. I really look forward to future scenes in future movies with Kirk/Spock/McCoy. They could not have cast the big three better!

What's really interesting - maybe a little scary - is how many reviewers like Chris and Zach BETTER than Shat and Nimoy. Most who say that grew up on Star Wars, of course, and so TOS is just another old show. Star Trek really would have died without this update.

yes, and there was something very Shatner-like about during the scenes where Bones had given him the virus and when he was running about trying to talk to Uhura about the Romulan signal

As for the obnoxious apple consumption, I thought it was supposed to be an homage to a scene/idea that preceded it in the Trekiverse.

Seriously, though. The notion of "better" does not sit well with me at all.

One thing I find intriguing is that people keep saying that Chris and Mr. Shatner look nothing alike.

Yet IMO, Chris brings enough of a physical resemblance to the role that I can see him as a young Kirk.

I definitely don't think quinto did better than the original Spock.
But lets face it...it's not hard to do better than Shat.
But he blew it out the water.
