Default What special features do you want on the DVD?

Features I'm not sure I could live without:

Outtakes - I heard Quinto had problems keeping a straight face in one scene with Pegg. I imagine the scene with Uhura and Kirk's swollen hands took a few takes as well - I know I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face.

Commentary - I'd love an actor's commentary. I love hearing about people's experiences while making the film, funny things that happened behind the scenes, friendships that were made, etc. My top 5 would be: Quinto, Urban, Pegg, Pine, and Nimoy - based purely on which characters I liked the most.

What else should they put on the DVD?

We already know there's going to be 3 hours of extra footage where the crew stand around debating the merits of saving the Andorian Ambassador from the surface of Silax IV, until you wish everyone was dead... (j/k)

I would like for them to include all of the trailer/tv-spots and a "making of" featurette.

I'd be happy just with the filmI enjoyed it so much, I'm a man of simple pleasures. As far as features go an extended directors cut would be very appealing as well as some of the deleted scenes maybe and a directors commentary from JJ.

I'd love to see a schematic/blueprint of the Big E. "I'd love to get me hands on her ample nacelles." It'd be interesting to get a cutaway view to see how they put her together and what advances they've made. Like the technical manuals, only something like an enhanced CD where you can look at PDF files on your own computer.

DVD extras.

The best commentaries are from actors where they can just let loose.
The LotR actor commentaries are almost as good as the movies themselves.
Some of the stuff they say is downright laugh-aloud funny.

Writer/director commentaries are interesting, but most of the time devolve into a fairly boring routine of shot explanation. Good for a film student maybe, but for the general public not so much. If the writer/director commentaries can be engaging then absolutely.

In fact, LotR extended DVD extras are just about perfect examples of what to give.
"I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad, and it's... depressing."
"Tact is just not saying true stuff. I'll pass"
"A sacrifice a day keeps Jesus away"
