Let's see -

The whole Kelvin sequence.

The Kobayashi Maru sequence.

The departure from the Starbase, and the antics of getting Kirk aboard.

I just thought ...

In this timeline, even though Spock admits to emotions and has a relationship, because he's already taken Chapel is still stuck with nothing but an unfulfillable crush.

I would think that in this timeline, perhaps Chapel would find someone else. Hmmm. Think McCoy is up for another shot at love? LOL

Thinking of that relationship....the scene where Uhura learns she's been assigned to another ship and tracks Spock down, tears into him, and then demands a place on the Enterprise and gets it. She's surely a match for him.

And, at the movie's end when Spock glances at her as passes by her on the way to his station, I loved the smile on her face. Two simple scenes that expressed a lot in a little time.

Kirk (regarding Nero's ship): "Showing them compassion might be the only way to earn peace with Romulus. It's logic, Spock. I thought you'd like that."
Spock: "No, not really. Not this time."

As I write this response, I'm listening to the BB song used in the movie. I'm guessing JJ's a fan, I could totally picture him in the editing room telling his editor. "Throw in BB, see how it sounds."

I'm pretty sure I heard gritted teeth shatter in the theater

My favorite moments in Star Trek is when Kirk cheated on the Kobayashi Maru test. He was so sophomoric , the cadets all knew it was not a no win scenario. At the same time, he angered Spock. The second, when Kirk was about to have sex with the Orion chic, then Uhura discovered his uniform on her bed and spotted him under the bed.

The movie opening with the USS Kevin under attack by the Narada is epic. I like how they made the battle quick and intense. The scene when the crew woman got sucked out into space blew me away, you really feel how silent space is, with no sound. From the alarms, bridge whistle, radio traffic felt very Star Trek.

Geroge Kirk sacrifcing his own life to save his family and crew was very emotional.

I also love the structure design on the Enterprise shuttle deck when Captain Pine was waking with Kirk and Spock before boarding on his shuttle, it felt realisic. Even though a lot of die hard fans hated the structure on the engineering deck, it looks very good.

Spock: "No, not really. Not this time."
And there was even a barely (I mean barely) perceptible grin on Spock's face as he said that.
