Indeed....and this movie really exemplifies something I've always loved about "coming of age" action stories.....ordinary people thrust into extraordinary events. One of the reasons I love the new Battlestar Galactica so much.

And for trivia buffs, A first in Trek history, Chekov utters MFer in Russian about 2-3 times in the movie. I never realised it was there in the original English version as well. The clearest one is when he successfully beams Kirk and Sulu onto the platform.

i totally agree.

You can't imagine my horror and glee when Yelchin uttered "Yob mayo" [MFer] in an English movie. . . JJ cleverly added potty mouth to a series where "Oh sh!t" when uttered by Data who was about to crash the saucer section was considered 'Trash talk'

I still see no JJ fatwa's here so this movie has done something right

I loved it when he ran down the corridors. That was classic TOS!

He was the youngest on the original as well and another reason he was added was to bring in more female viewers. Kind of like adding a Beatle or Monkey hip character for the 60's :-)

I hope Chekov in the future gets to show off his navigation and battle talents as well

And the world can accomplish much more together than it can apart

I loved the accent. Thought it was dead-on.

Wow. This changes my entire perspective of how Chekov was portrayed.

I like it a whole lot more now.

Thanks.

Chekov was brilliant in this, and he certainly seemed to solve most of the problems the crew faced and the acting was top notch, really captured the original character... apart from the mop hair which im still unhappy about!

I loved his accent and seriously, how could he have missed when he's actually Russian?! I remember reading a comment from someone here who was almost afraid to say they thought Anton's accent was more accurate than Mr. Koenig's. Of course, it was! The kid IS Russian!
