Default When did you feel Kirk became KIRK?

There were many instances where Chris Pine's Kirk started owning up in some way to the James T. Kirk that many of us knew from the day.

When did you first start getting that sense?

I'm not going to make this into a poll though.

For me, initially it was when he said: (in reference to becoming an officer) "Four years? I'll do it in three!"

But this, to me, was classic James T. Kirk as rendered by Chris Pine: "Sulu, if you think you have the tactical advantage, you open fire on the Narada, even if Spock and I are still aboard. Understood?"

I don't mean to draw comparisons, but I could so hear William Shatner saying that very line...and Chris Pine delivered it with as much conviction. Chris, if you read these boards....hats off to you!

I personally feel that Chris Pine's character didn't start becoming Kirk until after he met Spock Prime. That was when Kirk started to empathize with Spock and I feel other people in general... up until then he was rather self-centered with the exception of rescueing Sulu from an immenant death.

He's not Kirk yet. He's got a way to go. Next movie, maybe.

I'm with A-Collins. It was in the discussion with Spock Prime. There was a moment when I saw in his eyes that Kirk recognized his future lay with Spock. Also, that bit about Kirk's dad was just great....

I am with both Omegaman, and Eliza.

We could see the Kirk we all know and love, but at the same time he is not there yet.

When he met Spock Prime and took command of the Enterprise after the younger Spock resigned.

When he figured out that the Enterprise was walking into a trap and he convinced Capt. Pike and Commander Spock that he was right. That was the first time that he became concerned about the Enterprise and its crew.

The end of the movie. When he walked onto the bridge with that VERY familiar smirk on his face. That's when Kirk became KIRK.

That part I enjoyed because he's the only one who saw most of the truth and Spock Prime gave him the final piece of the puzzle later on.
