only spock knew kirk. i think it would be nice to see bill shatner as old kirk telling young spock from a visual image of what there friendship and relationship is going to be. just gives that notion that everything in star trek that has happened with the alt. timeline would be ok

Agreed, besides who knows if the Nexus exists at all or in any form we'd recgonize in this new timeline.

How do you know when it was recorded? It could have been recorded before Kirk's "death" on the 1701-B. The "unification" part of the explanation does NOT make sense, you are correct on that part NCC, but I doubt there would have been lines actually making those references.

Fan service? You mean the few lines that we all expected to hear? The "damn it Jim I'm a doctor..." and the "I'm given 'er all she's got C'ptain!" ?? Isn't everything else simply trying to resemble the characters? If they wanted to "service" the fans they shouldn't have changed every damn thing, then these minor cookies would NOT have been obvious. I will admit they were the few things I felt were "trekky" about the the film.

I think it's quite easy to explain - Spock was working towards reunification for a very long time.

So perhaps he was on a mission to Romulus in the wake of Khitomer that would have taken a while to complete. And that's why he wasn't in Generations.

(Apart from the fact Nimoy wasn't lured because he had nothing to do in it).

Anyway - they had the brains to dump Shatner. Wise move.
