I don't understand. For what purpose?
I mean she was only a wife and actor to the guy that made trek...I'm not sure Columbus would be open to this.

Cities have certainly paid homage to people for less....she was not only Roddenberry's wife, she was Nurse Chapel, who--as much as I personally despise the character--played a pretty important part in the original series, plus she was the voice of the computer and she re-appeared in both Next Gen and DS 9 as Lwaxanna Troi (sp?) (while still being the voice of the computer!)...I'm not a fan of the woman, but I can see how she warrants this honor from her home town.

I have to agree with Squist on this one, I'm just not seeing it.

Well...streets have to have names...ya know...

I have to tell you, there is one community where I live in which the members of the housebuilders were allowed to name streets...so, some are the names of the worker, some the name of the worker + spouse, some just a favorite thing and some just silly...there's one street that's "havitur way" the man who got to name it was a fan of Burger King ("Have it your way").... in that context, I can't see how naming a street for Majel Barret Roddenberry is bad.

She was a part of TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY in some way. That being said, Majel is part of something great, Star Trek. Plus, she did more than just Star Trek, she produced other shows and was involved in many other things.

So, no it is not the fact she was Genes wife that would warrant a street being named after her, it is the other things she did in life.

Yeah, in her home town, can see that. It's not like they are naming a space station or soemthing like that after her.

Today, I received word from the executive assistant of Roddenberry.com that my inquiry has been forwarded to Majel's manager. I'll let you know what happens next.

Saquist and Oregon, I'm not seeking anything extravagant. Just simple recognition. It might only result in a city council resolution in her honor. A framed certificate that would be mailed to her. I think Columbus would be open to that.

As Zardoz said, it's not like you're asking for a shuttle or space station to be named after or anything huge, it's her home town recognizing the accomplishment of one of its own.

I think we can all get behind that.
