Thumbs down The new Kirk can't fight worth a damn. (Spoilers)

Kirk is basically portrayed as a punching bag in the movie; taking aggro and damage until somebody can come along and save him:
  • Gets his butt whipped by Cupcake in the bar, saved by Pike
  • Gets his butt whipped by Romulans (who apparently work out a LOT) on the drilling platform, saved by Sulu
  • Gets his butt whipped by the snow beasts (a twofer!), saved by Old Spock
  • Gets his butt whipped by Spock on the bridge, saved by Sarek
  • Gets his butt whipped by Nero, saved by Spock (SPOCK! KHAAAAAN! SPOOOOCK!)
  • Gets his butt whipped by Nero's 2nd, saved by Nero's 2nd.
I very likely left one out. Does he beat HIMSELF up at any point, ala Fight Club? If so, somebody else probably had to save him.

Well, this is EASY to explain. In this new timeline, Kirk hasn't yet learned to drop onto his back and throw his legs into the air, kicking is opponents...

Kirk did get off several good shots to the Fed gang at the bar. He was outnumbered.

Spock and the Romulans are clearly stronger than Kirk...a fact known since the original series.

Just wait til Kirk learns the Judo chop! The galaxy'd better beware.

Have you ever heard Shatner talk about the drop-kick?

I was hoping for his great "throw my whole body at several guys taking them, along with me, down for the count" like he did in "Yesterday's Enterprise." That tactic could of worked in the bar fight

Yesterdays Enterprise was a TNG episode, and Shatner wasn't in it.
