www.boxofficemojo.com reports estimated $76.5 million opening.

I just read that on Comcast.net as well.

I would say that 76.5 million in just 2 days and preshows on THUR is very good considering Star Trek was nearly dead 2 years ago.

It's 3 day total should equal or beat Wolverene's 3 day total.
No better gift for Mom on Mothers day than taking her to the movies

Pretty sure none of these totals are taking into account the many worldwide showings over the last month either.

lol, read the other articles from the AP. The numbers are from Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday.

Perhaps they did the old slingshot-around-the-sun? It's not like you need to build a special tank of transparent aluminum to bring back some box office data!

So much fail concentrated in 1 thread. Using Saturday's numbers most box office analysts are extrapolating estimates for Sunday's intake. They didn't need to slingshot around anything, they just did their jobs...they guessed.
