Why can't it just be "AU" for "Alternate Universe".
That way if there is a spin-off TV series it can still be used, but if they stick with movies it still fits as well.

the name of the film is "Star Trek" and it's the ONLY film to ever only be called just "Star Trek." (The first film in 1979 is "Star Trek: The Motion Picture.")

We don't call the television series that ran from 1966-1969 "Star Trek." We call it "The Original Series." Why not just call this film what it's name is?

I use both ST and Trek but you make a good point about the TV series versus no TV series. Still, it seems like it should be more than just ST.

Maybe we should make a poll with all the suggestions and whatever suggestion wins is the one we all agree to go with? I'll go with ST if that's what wins. The good of the many and all that.

I mean no disrespect here, RedShirt, but you don't know ALL Star Trek fans, do you? I happen to use ST quite often to refer to the Star Trek universe as a whole so I'm not so sure it would be a good idea. I think either AOS (even though I do agree it's not quite right since this is not a series) or STAU would be the best choices so far, especially the latter.
