Exactly, even if he made it through, the ship would emerge in either pieces or it would slowly tear to bits on the other side and he'd be exposed to space or the gravitational pull of the black holee

So what if we didn't see Nero die; That scene marked the end of the storyline for the film. The implication he is dead serves the purpose for this film alone.
