Default Spoiliers! Major Unresolved Issue

Its a stretch, but I am by NO means convinced Nero is dead. We did not see him die, only parts of his ship be destroyed before he enters the singularity.

If singularity's create time portals, isn't it remarkably likely that his ship would be transported to another time with or without him being alive? If he IS alive, where is he?

I also would say that I think if JJ is going to borrow the best of trek, certainly the dominion wars offered a wonderful contribition to Trek and made for entertaining moments. We have a similar opportunity for such a war to break out with the Romulans. The Klingons would most certainly not allow such distruction to go unpunished.

About Nero maybe surviving, there are rumblings that the Star Trek ARG is based on this concept.

It's science fiction. Nobody dies. They just get written out til they get written back in again.

I wouldn't count on hearing about the Dominion unless the wormhole was found... I guess that could happen since this is a new time line and all that...

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Klingons, Tholians or Gorn in a possible sequel... but I would hope that the Enterprise would be doing some genuine exploring. Meeting the natives, Kirk sleeping with the natives and so forth.

Defending natives from an aggressor perhaps?

(starts thinking of a Trek movie that pits the Enterprise encountering a middle-east/Iraq type of planet that is being militarily occupied by a distant interstellar super-power and finding themselves caught in the middle of religious fundamentalism and disguised imperialism...)

Major unresolved issue?

Stop being so dramatic. You make it sound like its real life.
It's a film. It's fiction. Characters are written in and out.
So what if we didn't see Nero die; That scene marked the end of the storyline for the film. The implication he is dead serves the purpose for this film alone.

That's true...but there was that you know...big explosion with the Enterprise's core...after his ship went through, just putting that out there

And the fact that his unprotected ship had a black hole forming inside it is rather hard to consolidate...

But not impossible, we shall see...
