Default What? Nobody brought a camera!

Why is it that you never see a camera in Star Trek? I realize the Generations finally showed people using a camera and one episode of ST/TNG had a camera man. Here you have a giga-expensive spacecraft, fantastic view screen and when something goes wrong you here, "Number One, What the hell is going on down there?" Audio only! How many cameras did we have o the moon missions and on the shuttle? Couldn't the combadges and the Tricorder feed images to the bridge view screen?

Maybe if there had been more cameras, the discoveries of the Borg and Ferengi in the "Enterprise" era might not have caught everyone off-guard when they were "rediscovered" in TNG.

This has always been one of the first things that comes to mind for me anytime the subject of problems with "Enterprise" comes up.

Didn't anyone even have so much as a sketch pad? Write on the wall if you have to!!!!

Sometimes there were visual communications, but cameras in com badges would show what the view was from the wearers chest. Visuals I think were often the result of compiled censor readings.

And yes, the Doctor was quite the shutterbug. I wonder how holophotography, if it ever eally comes about, will change photography?

I saw on Attack of the Show that 3-D Cameras have just been developed. But, when they did a side x side comparison, the image looked the same as a regular digital camera.

Didn't they hook up Geordi's visor to the main viewscreen in an early TNG episode? I remember thinking: yes, that makes sense. And they never used that ever again.

They had a camera headpiece in the episode where Geordi is transformed on Tarchannen III...

Yes, but it was showing things as he saw them, which ended up being pretty much useless to "sighted" people. They must have decided it wasn't worth it after that.
