No Friday will be bigger - Thursday only started at 7pm (not a full day) and maybe wasn't advance screened everwhere.

Wolverine's 35 came from a friday after no advances at all. Don't worry about the Thursday figure. Wait and see what the Friday comes to.

Opening weekend of TREK vs previous films' entire runs:
At 60 million, it will beat V and Nemesis.
At 80 million, it will beat TWOK, TSFS, TUC, Generations, and Insurrection
At 85 million, it will beat TMP
At 100 million, it will beat , First Contact, and nip on the heels of TVH

Worth noting: WOLVERINE made $35 million on it's opening day (a full Friday, not half a Thursday evening), but that's over 8300 screens at about 4400 theaters.

The only info I can find about TREK indicates it's opening in just over 3800 theaters. Basically, theaters gave up many screens to WOLVERINE last wekeend to make a fast buck before TREK opens. Now WOLVERINE will give up many screens to TREK this weekend with direct competition at hand.

Still, we might expect TREK's total tally to be lower simply because it's showing on less screens that WOLVERINE had available last weekend. Fewer seats, fewer sales.

It will be most interesting to see what kind of drop off WOLVERINE experiences this weekend, as it will likely have fewer screens too.

I have a feeling Wolverine is going to drop in a big way. Several friends and I were going to see it this week, but after reading reviews and hearing other friends' opinions, I think the wife and me are just going to see Trek again.

I think we might be surprised, everyone I know is talking about seeing it this weekend... whats so special about that? They aren't star trek fans or have only seen 1 or 2 films. Im thinking with all the Par promotions and major tv spots, its going to do pretty damn good. Honestly can't ever remember having to juggle my schedule to see a star trek flick because all the shows I want to go to are sold out. That's saying something.
