New bridge fixture? I saw the film and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Yeah, it was sort of like insanely-rapid-fire-pulse-blobs wasn't it? I liked it.

what i meant was the new viewscreen...
epic but i did doubt the usefulness. surely a solid wall with a viewscreen is much more safe in the vacuum of space than a window!

See, I always thought it was kind of bizarre to NOT have a window on the bridge. Especially in some of the TOS episodes where Kirk orders the "viewer on." I was always like, "On?!? You mean that thing was OFF?!?!?? They should see where they're going at all times!" lol

The battle scenes were great...I really liked that the Enterprise was a more realistic looking ship internally than any of the other ships we are used to....and I thought I wouldn't care for it. I didn't like the window...seemed stupid not to be a screen...no shield flares...weird...overall...LOVED IT.

She wasn't actually in much of a combat scenario. The first scene where she is involved shows us her taking damage with the crew panicking. The second scenario was her warping in to shoot the Narada's missiles aimed at the Jellyfish piloted by Spock. And the last "combat" scene is when in the Narada is inoperable being sucked into the blackhole, and Enterprise just finishes it off with a few torpedoes.

If you are expecting battles as we saw in Nemesis for example, then forget it.

Question. When the Enterprise comes out of warp at Vulcan amidst the carnage of ships does Pike hail the Narada first or does the Narada attack her without warning.

The scene with the camera moving away from the bridge, away from the window and around the ship was a nice tribute to the very 1st scene (The Cage)!

I didn't really like engineering. Just pipes and valves and beer vats. People (very few at that) were just walking amongst the confusion doing who knows what. Very few control panels. I would have preferred an engineering control room like a nuclear reactor, but still show the workings behind the walls.
