My faves, not in any particular order:
Star Trek 11 (yes!) 2001 Blade Runner Star Wars - A New Hope Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back ST-TWOK The Thing (Carpenter's version) The War of the Worlds - Pal's and Spielberg's The Andromeda Strain, but not that horrible recent TV remake The Matrix The Terminator, 1 & 2 Alien Aliens Gattaca Robocop Silent Running JFK (with that plot, it had to be sci-fi!)

Oh, I forgot about the Planet of the Apes, but man did the sequels ruin it for me, although I liked the remake (except for the end)

Apes, again, seems more fantasy than real science fiction... sort of a science fiction version of Johnathan Swift... Still, you can't beat that first Serling script.

As far as Planet of the Apes sequels go,
I've always enjoyed Conquest of the Planet of the Apes It's actually quite good. Atmospheric, and quickly paced

The Terminator series are definitely up there among my favorites.
I also love the movie "Gattaca"
