It is, everything that is cool about TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise was borrowed from TOS. Don't get me completely wrong, I don't mind those shows, you can have a run of decades and of course there are going to be really good episodes and some movies will be great. They just can't stand up to TOS. Mostly because TOS was the original that set the stage. It also has real chemistry between the cast. I feel it actually has a more futuristic feel because your forced to use your imagination. As well, there is a sense of exploration and vastness that you don't find in the new star treks. Every episode is different, they don't do a 12 week run on the klingon war or whatever. That was originally why i liked voyager but as soon as the borg came along it was Then my hopes went to Enterprise and it was

This movie will be epic though, I haven't been this excited about a movie in forever. I'm not a fanboy but i'm not a noob either. It's almost like JJ is scared this movie won't do well, he's got nothing to fear. I watch the videos and listen to the soundtrack, i'm not hyped but i know this film will be Epic. It's like that line from field of dreams "if you build it they will come." That's my feeling, the hardcore trekkies, trekkers, fanboys that get dressed up and know all the stardates are a small but very vocal minority of star trek fans. I think you'll all be suprised at the amount of people that come out of the woodwork to see this one and there will be a ton of new fans.

I swear it will gross more in the first week than any star trek film did in it's whole run.

The clip was hilarious, and an oddly effective ad.

I am an utter ST Fan and have been so for the last 42 years of my life. All the Trek fans I know can't wait for this film to open, so I'll totally ignore the 'headline'.

OMG! I hope that wasn't real. I hope that guy was in on the joke. But if not, omg, that just makes it more hilarious.

This piece isn't making fun of the new film so much as the angry fans.

Oh, come on, lighten up.

I thought is was "good natured ribbing" at Trek fans and how good the film is. It was very creative.

I think the onion hired/recruited some really good actors, and the guy that said the thing about sports sounded extremely convincing, as indeed they all did.
