Yeh, and the NWO and the Reptilians are ruling the world too.

A parallel universe would have it's own beginning...the Abrams timeline shares the same beginning as the Trek universe we know and revere.

This is absolutely correct. What one sees in the much-loved Back to the Future trilogy, while great fun, is not accurate, as proposed by physicists. If somehow Spock were to go back in time and by mistake alter one event, it doesn't change the original time line. It just creates a new time line. I like the example omegaman gave (one time line resting above the other) as well.

It's a branch from the original time line, not a "parallel".

Great thread topic.

And now for a bit of Zen:

"If a tree falls on someone in an alternate timeline.....who cares?"

Any Star Trek fan worth their weight in Gold pressed latnium should know that that the timeline has been branched over and over again, and that Canon is almost non exsitant when we get right down to it.

I disagree. It doesnt create a new timeline. That timeline has always been there and just awaited Spock. Of course you have to believe in fate.

I think it should be known and appreciated by all that Commodore Ismay(the creator of this thread) was an extreme skeptic about the new movie before he saw it.

Just thought that might count for something.
