And does anyone understand the lyrics for Nero Death Experience? The choir seems to sing something... latin?

not sure what it's saying, but I can defiantly make it out as Latin from all the Latin material we do in chorus.

Yes you can listen to 30 second clips of all the songs on the Star Trek movie CD.

I have always loved music from other cultures especially Asia (Middle East, China, Japan.) The sound of the Erhu is so soothing and moving. It sounds like a violin or fiddle and then some with that twang kind of echo, when I hear this it is without a doubt a Oriental or Chinese instrument. Song #13 That New Car Smell on the new trek CD sounds like its going to be my favorite, I played that clip over and over a few times, might be a tear jerker moment in the movie. The First Contact opening credit piece was also moving. Most of the music for the new movie sounds great, this is another testament to the beauty of the music in Star Trek. The music is different from past trek films but ever so slightly similar. Michael Giacchino well done.

I wonder if it's the same choir that John Williams uses?

OneBuckFilms: Although the Star Trek theme sounds a little off on the CD, the way it was used in the film was perfect, I thought.
Normally I buy a soundtrack after the movie, so i can relate the music to the scenes, but I couldn't wait on this one!

I can see a few of the "songs" having a completely different feel once I can relate them to the moment!

I personally wished they would have used that twang sound from the Motion Picture when we see the V'ger cloud thru the film. It was kind of erie. What was that instrument called anyway?

It was called the "Blaster Beam", and was created by Craig Huxley, and experimental musician.

It involves a 14 foot long instrument, some amplifiers, and rotating artillary shell casings and magnets.

It also makes some whale-song like sounds, like for instance in "The Force Field", and was also used in Star Trek II and Star Trek III, but dialed back a lot.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if it can be downloaded somewhere?
