For a follow up question, does anybody know Spock's last name. I know they said it was unpronounceable for humans but did any of the episodes or books actually say what it was or how it was spelled? I am just curious.

Spock is winning right now. To quote a famous Star Fleet captain. "You Spock, that's Extraordinary."

How magnanimous of him...
LOL, that is true. Shatner got jealous of Leonard Nimoy because Spock got more fan mail and was more popular.

Oh, Spock fangirls... an interesting breed. Did anyone see Leonard on The Colbert Report last night (Thursday)?? He was there talking about his latest photography book, "The Full Body Project." In the course of being controversial (in a fun way), Colbert asked, "So, are there any naked pictures of Len in the book?" And the audience went nuts!! Women screaming and squealing like crazy!!! It was so awesome.

SPOCK! With Bones and Scotty as runner-ups.

I love em' all, but if i had to pick one, it would be Doctor McCoy. He is the crux on which the three way relationship between Kirk, Spock and himself spins. He keeps Kirk humble and Spock's ego in check. A lot of the time, even though Spock's logic was near flawless in their arguments, McCoy could defend emotional humanity in a way that would clearly leave Spock wondering whether the old country doctor really did have a point after all, even though he would never admit it. The way the three always played off of each other was one of the coolest and funniest things about the original series.

SCOTTY!! If he hadn't pulled the Captain's (chest)nuts out of the fire too many times to count, Kirk wouldn't have been able to do all that womanizing
