Although my priority has Harry Potter at the top of my list, I will see the movies in order of appearance.
So, if Wolverine appears first, then that's what I'll go see...then Star Trek, then Terminator Salvation, then Harry Potter. ![]()

It's down to 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. Only 22% from the top critics. Scary stuff. I'll wait for Star Trek.

Rotten Tomatoes is generally populated by "arthouse" types anyways. So I don't exactly consider their opinions any more valid than the average Joe on the street.

Well guys, I just came back from seeing it (alongside the very good State of Play which I'd recommend as well).
It's not quite the catastrophe I had wondered if it might be from all the stuff over the leaked version. It's by no means smart, it has minimal character development and it proves that sometimes knowing someone's origins isn't automatically something you need to know. But - I honestly don't think it's any worse than X3 really. It has much of the same faults. An emphasis on relentless action sequences while keeping actual story to a bare essence. Wolverine's origins still aren't really explained much - visually nice 'passage of time' credits sequence notwithstanding, and the motivation for Wolverine to do what he does in the film gets undone by a silly and unsurprising 'twist'. A lot of it had been gleaned already from X1 and X2. But, the action itself does deliver. Mostly the effects are pretty good (but $150 million should do that) except for some early scenes. The most disturbing thing really was the 'appearance' at the end of an X-Men staple and the fact they were 100% CGI. Or certainly looked like it, anyway. As usual, the immensely charismatic (and perfectly chosen) Hugh Jackman anchors the whole flick and without him it would probably be far less enjoyable. The rest of the cast don't really get much to do, but Danny Huston takes over the role of Stryker adequately. If you just want action and effects - it will likely be sufficient. But I'd hope any future installments get a bit more under the skin of the characters they portray.

I've read reviews that compare it to a video game. Sounds like you'd probably agree. I'll wait for the DVD.

I decided to skip Wolverine and it appears that it turned out as I thought it would. The video game looks really cool though, so I may have to pick that up eventually...

I enjoyed the movie. There was something that seemed to conflict with the Xmen movies....but I may have just missed something.
Wolverine was a good movie, and well worth my bucks. Now...bring on May 8th! Star Trek, IMAX, and Jack and Coke slushees. ![]()
