SPOILER: New Movie Romance
I just read some interviews/reviews where it is revealed that Spock & Uhura strike up a romance during the movie.
This explains that "hugging" scene that we saw a month or so ago. Zoe herself said, when she first read it she didn't like it, because even she knew that never happened in Trek. But then she realized that Uhura and Spock were kind of kindred spirits, so it made sense. Also mentioned was the fact that she does not like Kirk, so of course she would go for the opposite type. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I'm one of those weirdos that likes spoilers, but not in extensive detail.
I'm not looking for the whole storyline, but can you answer this: Is it REALLY a romance, or more of one that is open to interpretation?

See....this has been spoiled in other threads and frankly, I think it's open to interpretation. Obviously, they have a personal relationship and she cares about him. But from what I've read, there are 2 hugs (one sort of protracted when something really bad has happened) and one kiss on the lips in front of others (including Kirk).
By that standard I'm having a romance with just about everyone I know...

I heard more than a kiss. And from different reviewers so that's why I'm curious.

I don't understand why Spock would be kissing anybody. Really. In TOS, it always took some sort of plot device to get him to do ANYTHING like that. I want Spock to be the stoic VULCAN that we are familiar with. Half human, of course, but please, why have him act so emotional already?
