Default Back into The Hospital

Ok, many of you who have been here have heard about my health issues. The short story is, I have some major problems resulting from a broken neck in 1970. I have had 4 surgeries, 9 fusions from C4 to T3, complete with 10 titanium screws and 2 long rods. In 2006, my problem was multiplied with pulmonary embolisms (one bloodclot was so large it was in both lungs called a saddle embolism) and DVT (deep vien thrombsis) in both legs. I had an emergency technique done at that time where they rushed me to a differnt hospital in Louisville, and went down through my carotid artery and tried to dissolve and suck part of the large clot up out of my left lung. I was there 2 weeks and, according to the doctor, I shouldn't be here. That problem seems to have been taken care of, but I will be taking blood thinners for the rest of my life. Now, back to my neck. I managed to work 50/60 hours a week on a wonderful job up until after the third surgery, and went kaput on August 2007, and I haven't worked since that time. Tomorrow, I go back into the hospital to start the procedure of having a pain pump implanted to relieve my pain. I have not had one minute of pain relief since before the third surgery. Now the doctors have given up on me and say I can't have another surgery, and turned me over to "pain management" doctors. I will have the tube implanted tomorrow form my lower back to my neck, where they will try different meds on me to see which one will work best. I am currently on a pain patch(fentynal) and pain pills that hurt the liver and kidneys. This pain pump, if successful, will bypass the organs in my body and I can manage with a third less med than I am taking now! Please send me a good thought or prayer about 10 am EST tomorrow. My wife is afraid of the anesthesia, as I "died" for 25 seconds the last time and had to be coded to wake me up. I am sure everything will be fine and if I can get online, I will let everyone know that all is well sometime tomorrow evening!!!! Thanks and sorry for the long post!!!!!

I'm sending you positive thoughts and good luck. Please write when you can. You have to be better by May 8th and deserve all the joy it brings.
Happiness, at least, Sir.

I'll be thinking about you. I think you'll find the pump to be a wonderful gift once it's installed. Let us know how you're doing.
