In the original series it's said to be near the galactic barrier. (outer rim)

We (The Sun) are located near the inner rim of the Orion arm of the galaxy, and the star Vega (principal star in the Lyra constellation) is located about 25 light years from us.

IIRC, we are much farther than 25 light years from the galactic outer rim.

So, to answer your question. No, no it's probably not.
