Default Golden Girls Bea Arthur passes away at 86

Just read this news online.

I'm really saddened by this news so soon after Estelle Getty (Sophia) also died. Arthur was a tremendous comedy actress, not only from GG but from her pioneering role as 'Maude' and earlier work on 'All in the Family'.

I'll probably take some stick for this show being a favourite of mine when I was young but I care not. How an 8 year old kid could identify with fiftysomething women and an 80 year old I can't answer, but I still love that show.

Same here, it was a great show. I watched it when I was a kid too. Very sad news indeed.

What? Where? Was she a wookie? Kidding, kidding, I loved Bea Arthur - I remember watching Maude with my Mom in the 70's and laughing my butt off. She always dressed with panache.

I had no idea what you guys were talking about. Had to look it up. Didn't realize she was in a special.

I never watched on her 70's show. But I did watch Golden Girls.

lol, As a kid the Adult jokes went right over my head, but I still found the show funny.
And now in reruns, I get the jokes, so it's like "it's new to me" all over again.

Plus, I had no idea she had cancer. Maybe ET will have a little more information on Mondays show.

I was more impressed with her stage career...but I loved every TV show she was in...especially Golden Girls.... that one made me hope that I'll deal as well with my aging as they did.
