Lightbulb Star Trek XI vs. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn

What do you think people. Could this new film beat out TWOK and become the best Trek movie created?

Well for one that assumes that II was the best ST film - personally I prefer VI.

But no, I doubt it. I'm not saying that this won't be a good film, but from the clips I've seen I just don't see it happening. The acting is good, but not particularly great. The action looks cool, but to fast paced to be suspenseful. And what the frak is with those blindingly bright bridge lights?

My impression is that this film is trying to hard to be "cool", and because of that it's going to suffer. Maybe I'm wrong - I certainly hope that I am - but that's my worry.

I will say that from the brief clips we've seen, Nero looks like he'll be a great enemy. Khan level? We'll see.

I prefer IV, then VI, then II, but the answer is still absolutely not... the best this film can hope to acheive is to be better then the worst of them all, ST I.

I thought ST1 was good, once you understand it. V,Ger was sent back by the borg. now that's amazing

Never thought about it that way. Sent back to find the creator and assimilate him.

As far as best movie... TUC because of the story and its metaphors on the end of the cold war. Also, considering the hard liners that overthrew Gorbachev it makes you think what else might have been going on behind the scenes that ended up not working.TWoK was better on an acting level however and the TUC final battle could have been better... expecially with things like the tailpipe gotcha vs two-dimensional-thinking.

The only problem with TMP was the pacing - storywise, it's in some ways the most "Star Trek" of any of the films. I'd say the worst film is either V or X; I couldn't say which exactly, as I haven't watched either of them in at least 6 years.
