Default Ming-Na to Play Lesbian on Stargate Universe

Following on the heels of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, the latest Stargate series — Stargate Universe, or SGU — will include the franchise's first lesbian cast member: political attaché Camille Wray, played by veteran Chinese-American actress Ming-Na Wen

This is what Trek should have done a long time ago!!

Ming-Na is one hot woman!! Maybe we'll see her character and her girlfriend make-out?? That would rock!!

Yup. Just like I said on the "Iowa" thread. Once again, Trek is left behind in the dust where this social issue is concerned. Let's take stock, shall we?

Torchwood/Dr. Who... Captain Jack Harkness... bi.
Firefly... Anara... bi
Farscape... Chiana... bi
Buffy... Willow... lesbian
Battlestar Galactica... most of the cylons...bi
Babylon Five.. Ivonava... bi

Star Trek... nada, zip, zero... the big goose egg. (This, after 40 years!)

I had no idea that many shows had GBLT characters... now I'm a little more irked that Trek hasn't followed suit.

A lesbian isn't really very bold.

Even Star Trek had with Dax's kiss and Kira in the mirror universe female homosexuality.
Lesbians usually are a lot easier accepted.

If you want to go boldy where no one has gone then you create a male homosexual character.

that's because even straight guys find some lesbian action to be HOT! Anyway, that is why I think it is more generally accepted.

Yes, it is simple and it is primitive, but probably that is the reason only hardliners have problems with a lesbian character.

The times lesbians were a bold move were around 10 years ago.
Nowadays I begin to see a lesbian character as an excuse, you want to be political correct, but you don't have the courage to show something really polarizing/provoking.

I wait for the author that has the courage to create a 100% gay character inclusive a kiss between him and his bf.

I think Will and Grace already did that. Of course that isn't Trek so maybe that doesn't count!

Well I am talking of a "serious" serie, not a sitcom.
But actually I have to admit, I don't know Will & Grace.

Will and Grace was a great comedy sitcom!!! You should google it and watch an episode or two if you can.
