I preferred 7 to Kes 10 to 1. To me, Kes just seemed to be just hanging around. I feel that Kes had a hard time carrying an episode, 7 was great at it. VOY is my favorite Trek of all. That's what I love about this site, everyone gets to have their own opinion!!!

I thought Seven was a great character. She was strong yet vulnerable. She was much better than Kes.

Horatio... I'll have you know that Harry is 18 and a half!

Now that you have made me think about it, then yes. It is a bit creepy. Surely Kes and Tom's daughter would have a different lifespan to Kes. I would assume a person of Ocampan-Human mixed species would have a lifespan of about 30 or 40 years.

Before and After begins at Kes' death in 2378 and works backwards.
Caretaker episode occurs in 2371.
if memory serves Kes marries Paris sometime after Torres death in 2375/76.

Linnus can be no more than 3 years old and Kim would have seen her at birth and seen her grow up. I don't care what kind of being she was that is not right in any way. nor is Paris or Neelix being with Kes.

Well, Kes was mature when she was together with Neelix. As the daughter of Paris and Kes must have been as she brought a child into the world.

Mind that many cultures on Earth consider it OK that fourteen year olds become pregnant. Even if Occampan culture features a "buffer" between sexual maturity and adulthood like Western cultures on Earth do, the equivalent of let's say 4-6 Earth years would be something like 4-6 months for an Occampa.

I agree DammitJim. I meant that surely if she is mixed species she would not have grown up as fast as Kes. It would be gross to marry someone who is about 3, no matter how mature they looked.

She was physically mature, otherwise she could hardly have become pregnant.
Suppose she was not adult in Occampan terms. Does anyone really believe that timid Harry Kim would screw a child, the child of his best friend?

So obviously the daughter of Paris and Kes has an Occampa life expectancy and is grown up when she becomes pregnant, as the only alternative is a bit preposterous: that Kim is a paedophiliac and not incarcerated.

I'm not suggesting Harry Kim was a paedophile, just that it would be a bit disconcerting to marry someone who was only born 2 or 3 years ago.
