Default The Year of Hell... predicted by Before & After?

Something that always bothered me was in "Before & After" (one of the last few episodes of season 3), Kes was in the future and saw the events of "The Year of Hell" and at the end of the episode when she was back in normal time said she was going to make a report on all she knew about the Krenim and their torpedoes that could go right through their shields...

So, why then, in season 4 when the two-parter "Year of Hell" episodes happened, did they not know about any of this?? They didn't know who the Krenim were or about the torpedoes.

Did Kes forget to hand in that report?

Or was the "Before & After" episode a sort of alternate timeline episode such as with "Living Witness" where Voyager is in a museum, the Doctor helps put their history right and then sets off for home? Cos if so, maybe this should have been more clear...

This is a good question.
I'll have to review the story.

I think the best "excuse" would be this.

The time line was being altered so much by, ummm whatever his name was, that by the time Voyager got to Krenim space, they did not know of the Krenim. It is possible that the events that Kes encountered never happened, or in the way we saw them.

Annorax - which I always recall as it's so similar to Anorack.

That's the reason I always worked from. In fact, the Kes page on Memory Alpha suggests it.

From what I remember reading over at Memory Alpha the original plan was to have Year of Hell be the season finaly, but the higher ups wanted to go ahead and introduce the Borg, and by the time they got to do Year of Hell Kes had left the ship.

The whole ending with Kes was so messed up..

I would wager that maybe it ended up not happening in the "Prime" universe.
