Default The Fly, original or remake?

I have seen the ´86 version first and was positively surprised when I forced myself to check out the original.
The characters are more interesting and convincing in the remake which is also overall more personal than the more sci-fi-ish original.
The shock moments are hard to anticipate and thus well placed but the ending of the original is much more creepy.

Yes, the original had more story around the story and that was great!
The remake is too much focused on horror effects.
How is Fly II? I never saw it.

No idea, I haven't seen it either.
I wouldn't say that the remake is just cheap horror effects, it is more about exploring the change of personality in a slower and deeper way than in the original. The 'Fly taking him over' was a bit short and not-too-well developed in the original which was more about the nowadays perhaps a bit antiquated scientist-responsibility-Frankenstein theme.

I found the new version an extremely depressing film. good for readers of 'Fangoria' but not much else. I like the old version the best....it had a lot more character and solid story line...and of course Vincent Price (surprisingly in a non horror role this time).

Reminds me of the original Nosferatu, it was sooo much better than the remake

NCC, the Fly 2 remake was about the same stuff in the first one, only more of the same. There is alot of the gory stuff in 2. I love the original, I have both sets of them, don't get me wrong, I love Jeff Goldblum and Gina Davis, but I just like the original better, better story. IMHO

Original version all the way. Just like original The Thing which I watched on the weekend.

Having never seen the original, I can't make a comparison.

But, I did like the '86 version, and the Fly II was ok.
