A typical "turnover" from the theatre to home video is approximately 6 months. However the actual date depends on a number of factors. One is how well the film does at the box office. If it does really good they will be more likely to wait longer to turn it out on disc. Many times the release date will be scheduled around times that typically guarantee good sales i.e. the Day after Thanksgiving or near Christmas. In some cases the director can actually have the final word on the DVD/Blu-Ray release date, for example Steven Spielberg has almost always set his film's home video release dates. These and any number of other factors such as extras to be included; deleted scenes, commentaries and any making-of featurettes all of which have to be produced and finalized help determine the date. Again though the typical timeframe is roughly 6 months.

I'd say "in time for Christmas" is probably a decent bet. LOL

I'm waiting for the full bluray box set
![]() Including revised special effects that I see on my DVD special editions, which I hear will NOT be in the initial bluray release.

Friday the 13th was released Feb 13th, it was the highest grossing Friday of the franchise. I read on that site that the DVD release is June 16th, in both formats. That's almost exactly 4 months. Hopefully, we will get to see this movie for the second outing by Late Summer/early Fall!!!!! PLus Changeling with Angelina Jole was a 4 month wait!

i would have thought having the special editions was a wise move tbh, some of the special effects will look awful on BD...especially 5...*shudder*

It will be comfortably in time for Christmas as a May release -
let's see, in the UK there will be - The 1 disc version The 2 disc special edition Possibly also - a limited edition, or an edition with a different cover that some retailers will sell (but which will be a match for the standard 2 disc), or the version sold by the retailer that will come with an extra (a keyring etc, but will again be the standard 2 disc). What choice!!
